Senior Engineering Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Engineering Manager to lead an engineering team of 15-20 engineers. This is a techno-managerial role responsible for delivering high-quality software while ensuring the team is productive, engaged, and aligned with business goals. This role is responsible for managing a team that works on building the next generation of Acceldata’s platform and products and owns the responsibility to ship the key features of the product on-time.  

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will work closely with Engineering Leadership to build the product strategy, reviewing the product roadmaps, track the engineering progress and plan the releases. You will play a key role in hiring, coaching the team members, providing technical guidance and ensuring engineering excellence across the team.

What You’ll Do

Technical Leadership

• Guide architecture and design decisions.
• Review technical proposals and trade-offs.
• Establish engineering best practices.
• Ensure scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Partner with senior engineers and architects on technical strategy.

People Leadership

• Build a strong engineering team.
• Guide the team, resolve conflicts and remove blockers.
• Conduct performance reviews and career development discussions.
• Build a healthy and inclusive team culture.

Project & Delivery Management

• Own execution of engineering roadmaps.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time and with quality.
• Manage project planning, resource allocation, risk assessment, and dependency management across multiple initiatives. Balance technical debt with feature delivery.
• Drive engineering productivity and predictability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Product Managers on roadmap planning.
• Collaborate with Design, Customer Success, Sales, and Support teams.
• Align engineering efforts with business objectives.
• Communicate status, risks, and priorities to stakeholders.

Operational Excellence

• Define engineering processes and metrics.
• Improve CI/CD, testing, observability, and release management.
• Manage incident response and postmortems.
• Monitor team health and delivery metrics.

What We’re Looking For

• 14–18 years of hands-on software engineering experience with deep expertise in backend systems and platform engineering.
• 6+ years of experience in managing a high performance team of 20+ engineers
• Experience designing complex systems around data, applications, and enterprise-scale workloads.
• Strong programming expertise in Java, Scala, Golang, or similar backend technologies.
• Hands-on experience with distributed data processing and streaming technologies such as Apache Spark, Apache Flink, and Apache Kafka, along with NoSQL databases (e.g., Cassandra, MongoDB, HBase, DynamoDB). 
• Strong experience working within the Big Data ecosystem, including technologies such as Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, YARN, Iceberg, Trino, and Airflow, is highly preferred.
• Expertise in project planning, resource allocation, risk assessment, and dependency management
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to balance technical depth with people leadership and business priorities.
• Exceptional problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with engineering leaders, architects, product leaders, and executives.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with large-scale data platforms, analytics systems, or data infrastructure products.
• Experience building observability, monitoring, reliability, or platform engineering solutions.

• Lead end-to-end execution of projects and cross-functional deliverables for Senior Engineering Manager.
